I am happy to say that so far, I have lost a total of 33 lbs. Many thanks to you and Hope 80/20. Reading the lessons and watching your videos helped me stay on track. The weekly conference calls kept me stay motivated. Your encouragement and always being there and willing to help means more to me than you can ever imagine. For that, I am forever grateful. It feels good to know that someone is cheering for me and wants to see me achieve my goal.

I learned so much with this program. One of them is that, you don’t have to starve yourself or give up foods that you like to lose weight. If you can remember the 4 Pillars (1. Drink 64 ounces of water daily 2. Watch your calories 3. Exercise at least 30 minutes a day 4. Get 6-8 hours of sleep a night) and try to live by it, then you are on your way to a healthier you. Also, don’t skip a meal and don’t eat anything 2 hours before you go to bed. That’s what I had to do to lose the weight.

I’m not done yet; this is just the beginning. I had some rough days and sometimes thought of giving up. Then I realized, so what I messed up today. Get over it and start again tomorrow! One thing that stayed on my mind that you always said is “You don’t have to be perfect to be healthy, you just have to be consistent.” I pray to GOD that others see this and try your program. If it worked for me, I know that it will for them. Thank you, Maurice for all that you do. I appreciate you and God bless you!

I just wanted to touch base with you and let you know why I stopped doing the program. I didn’t quit all together. My doctor just started me on a different plan to help control my migraines/hormones and it was too hard to keep up with both plans. The great thing is this plan also includes lots of water (actually I am shooting for 80-100 oz a day and getting used to the 64 oz on your plan got me ready for this so thank you!!). It also of course include plenty of sleep and daily movement. I have now lost a total of 20 lbs. since October and I have now been migraine free for 2 weeks straight (the longest stretch in months!!) Thank you for what you do and the great motivator you are to so many.

Thanks for the motivation, I have logged in and I’m working very hard to catch up in the program. You are correct about life getting in the way. I will not let the stress of life keep me from living a healthy lifestyle. Have a great day!

I am grateful for the Hope 80/20 program. I was able to apply the teachings from the weekly lessons to my everyday life. The results included a 10-12 lbs. weight loss in addition to knowing how to make good choices towards a healthy life style. Having the coach’s support helped me to stay on track and encouraged. Since starting this online program, I have lost 23% of my total body weight.

Thanks for the grocery list. I wasn’t surprise not to see one of my all-time favorite cereals (Honeynut Cheerios) now I know because of the added sugar. The Juice/Beverages category was surprising too.

Great information about the MSG preservative and high levels of sodium in restaurant foods even when you think you are eating healthy. WOW!!!
Now I am very curious of what other names MSG has been switched to now consumers are looking for MSG on labels. My daughter told me look for
Disodium Inosinate
Disodium Guanylate

I appreciate the weekly lessons and the pace of the program. This allows the lifestyle points you share to become a work in me.

A key for me is to plan ahead. With a full time job and being caretaker for my wife, I must think ahead. Otherwise, smart meal choices and taking the time for exercise can be compromised.

I am finding success with my awareness of how the choices I make matter meal-by-meal, step-by-step. Much like our relationship with Christ- I start each day new and must surrender to self with my walk (pun intended).

Thank you for your work.

First, I just wanted to say thank you. Your willingness to help me achieve my goal of what I call 50/50 is a blessing to me. I am ready to get started and excited to be working with an amazing person who loves what he does. With your support, I know that I can do it. Whatever it takes, I will do. That is a promise to you and to myself.

The OIG department of F&A started the Resistant Band Exercise class on January 21, 2014 with six participates and three months later there are three employees that come on a regular and two other employees that attend at the same time but do cardio activities. The class has changed the exercise routine three times to keep our workouts interesting and challenging for the muscle groups being worked. All instructions on the exercises come from our Diabetic Prevention Coach, Maurice Saliba.

We are thankful that we have a work-out room in our building and that we are allowed the 30 Minute Wellness Break. The group meets on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays and the class is open to anyone that is interested in the building.

Results: With the diabetic program we three had lost a total of 35 pounds until the exercise class began in January. Now with the band class added we have lost an additional 16 pounds and 11.5 combined total inches from upper arms, waist, and thighs. We all do some form of cardio on our Tuesday and Thursday Wellness Breaks. We are more energized and one member of the class no longer has to take blood pressure medication. Working for a Healthier Tennessee!

On Saturday I completed the Country Music Marathon in Nashville. As I mentioned to you in class on Thursday, I hurt my back 3 weeks ago. This back issue has limited my training; however, I took your advice and used the stretching exercises you suggested. When I started the marathon, I felt great. When I passed the 4 mile mark, my back began to hurt but not much. Once I got to the 9 mile mark, I was hurting more. It was at this point, I thought about you and how excited you were when I told you I would be doing this marathon. In addition, I was wearing my wristband from our class member’s brother that says, “I run for Joe, 4-26-2014”. These thoughts gave me the motivation I needed to keep going. Because of the pain, I had to slow my pace but I stayed determined to finish.

I have rested over the weekend and feel better today. My personal goal for the marathon was to finish at a pace of 15 minutes per mile. I am proud to say that my finish time was 3:22 with a pace of 15.25! So, even with the pain and having to slow down for the last 4 miles, I still was very close.

I am so thankful to be a part of your class. You are a great motivator. You may share results if you want☺

16 week has come and gone and the OIG staff in the Diabetic Prevention Program is sad to see our weekly meetings end. Maurice has been a true champion to our group. We got lots of tips today on how to stay on track and also some additional exercises to add to our strength program. We started with 13 people and ended with 10. Our group had 6 out of 10 that lost over 5% of their body weight and 2 of the 6 have exceeded the 7% already. Total pounds lost 111!!!

Maurice, I apologize for not attending our DPP Meeting today, I have to be in Clarksville. I wanted to let you know how I have been doing. On April 11th, I had my routine doctor’s appointment. My doctor was very pleased because at my previous appointment I weighed 175 lbs, but on April 11th, I weighed 168 lb. My A1c was 6.3 and previously it was 7.3 (my A1c was off because she had changed my cholesterol medication to Astorvastin (Lipitor), which does increase your blood sugar and causes severe leg cramps, but she changed it back at my request); my cholesterol was below 166; my vitamin D level was back to normal; and my Blood pressure was good, 120/70.

As a goal, I am contemplating riding my bike to the bus stop, which will be about a mile one-way from my home, put my bike on the bus to ride to work, and ride my bike home from the bus stop, which would give me an extra 2 miles of exercise at least three times a week, during the nice weather, as soon as I can arrange to get a bike locker.

As another goal, I am working on losing more weight by the time I go back to the doctor in 6 months. This is all I can report at this time. Thank you
